Description of Services
Learn from a Certified Special Education Life Skills Teacher!
I am a passionate, professional Special Education teacher. I have experience at the middle school, high school and transition levels. I have taught in various settings, such as self-contained academics for those on the autism spectrum, the resource classroom for students who require support to succeed in the general education classroom, and most recently, a self-contained life skills program for middle school students with moderate-severe cognitive, communication and executive functioning challenges.
Despite my wide range of professional settings, my passion lies within the life skills classroom and curriculum. During a session with me, clients will work on a variety of areas within the category of Life and Vocational Skills. Focal points for sessions depend on the guardian/client area of need. Services I have provided to my clients thus far have included, but are not limited to:
Independent living skills (e.g. budgeting, meal planning/grocery shopping, time and household management tasks).
Communication (functional, social and professional) skills and vocational skills
Self-advocacy, self-help and community awareness coaching (safety and community signs)
Healthy habits, personal hygiene and self care coaching
Job readiness coaching (resume building, interview skills, and employment seeking/marketing strategies
I take pride in meeting clients/families where they are at and with respect to their specific goals. I build upon a client’s current skill level in order to increase their abilities and confidence over time. I have a calm, compassionate demeanor that sets the tone for a welcoming and safe learning environment. At All Minds Matter: Personal Life Skills Coaching/Tutoring, clients have the opportunity to succeed and become as self-sufficient as possible regardless of their challenges.
